Overview

The Concurrency Scheme: New and Concurrency Scheme: [name] pages are comprised of three tabs:

The General Concurrency Scheme Information tab collects general information about the concurrency scheme. The type of information you will provide includes the name and description, modifiers for directing, solo, directed, and other providers and modifiers for monitored anesthesia care.

How to Get Here?

To open the General Concurrency Scheme Information tab for new scheme:

From the Home Page:
From the Menus:
Via Shortcut Keys: 
  1. Click Concurrency Schemes from the Admin list 
  2. Click Create
  1. Open the Admin menu and select Concurrency Schemes
  2. Click Create
  • From the Concurrency Schemes page, press [Alt] + [C]

 

To open the General Concurrency Scheme Information tab for existing scheme:

Via Shortcut Keys: 
  1. Click Concurrency Schemes from the Admin list 
  2. Select the concurrency scheme to be modified
  3. Click Update*

*Alternate Navigation: Double-click the concurrency scheme from the list

  1. Open the Admin menu and select Concurrency Schemes

  2. Select the concurrency scheme to be modified

  3. Click Update*

The number of concurrent cases that a directing physician is allowed to manage before the physician becomes the supervising provider. The default value populated in the field is 4.

The directing physician can direct up to, but no more than, the value specified. For example, if this value is set to 4, the directing physician can direct four concurrent cases. When the directing physician becomes involved in a fifth case, the physician is no longer considered the directing physician, but becomes the supervising provider. For billing purposes, the modifiers for supervising providers are used instead of the modifiers for the directing physician. Additionally, the values in the fee schedule for anesthesia billing Supervising Provider Adjustment and Directing and Directed Provider Billing are used to calculate fees for services rendered by the directing physician.

Modifiers are set for the Directing Physician, Supervising Provider, and Directing CRNA of SRNA.

For each allowed case, you can specify the two-character modifiers for the level of supervision required for each provider who the physician is directing on two or more concurrent cases. The directing physician is allowed to direct up to four concurrent cases with a CRNA, Anesthesia Assistant, and resident, and up to two cases with an SRNA.

For the directing CRNA, you can specify up to two modifiers for the SRNA.

Solo Providers Section  Pertains to the two-character modifiers that indicate services were provided by a solo physician and solo CRNA.
