The Procedure Categories page allows you to manage procedure categories for reporting purposes.  Connect Back Office comes with a set of procedure categories, which cannot be modified or deleted.

A procedure category is a group of two or more procedure codes related  by similar procedures or by types of service, for example, obstetrics,  acute pain, and pain management. The procedure category for a particular type of service would include only those procedure codes for that type of service. You can also use procedure categories for grouping two or more similar anesthesia procedures, for example, procedure codes 01991 and 01992. You can create a procedure category called 01991/2 with these two procedures in it.

You can use the same procedure code in more than one procedure category. For example, epidural is a procedure that might be used in obstetrics, acute pain, and pain management.

The procedure categories that you create are added to the Type list in General Procedures at the fee schedule so that the procedure codes can be imported into the appropriate fee schedule in the practice configuration. These procedure categories also are available in the Connect Portal tool as a means for grouping procedure codes for reporting purposes.
