Complete this task to create start and stop files for automatic transmission to a pre-collections service, for example, TSI. 

Your practice must be enrolled with a pre-collection service and your Connect platform must be configured by Cognizant to use this functionality. If both of these conditions are not met, the Pre-Collections option is not available from the Manage menu.

From the Start Files tab, click Create. The Create Start File window opens.

Open the Practice drop down list and select one or multiple practices to create start files.

If you only have access to one practice, the practice is selected by default and this step is skipped.

3(Optional) Select the Date of Service to include in the start file. 
4Open the Number of Returned Results drop down list and select a value.
The options include: 100, 200, 500, All Records. This is used to designate how many records are included in the Start File.

Click OK. The Add Service Fees window opens with a list of all service fee lines that are eligible for transmittal to the pre-collections service.

 
6Click the service fee lines to include in the start file.
  • To select all service fee lines, click Select All. A checkmark appears in the box of the Select column for each service fee line.
  • To select one or more service fee lines in a group, mark the Select checkbox next to each service fee line to include.
  • To clear all selections, click Select None. All checkboxes in the Select column are cleared for all service fee lines.
7After you are finished making your selections, click OK.
The start file is created and automatically transmitted to pre-collections, typically within two hours.

If a service fee line item is selected by the pre-collections process, the SVCFE line item in Active AR is highlighted in blue to indicate the balance is in pre-collections.

From the Stop Files tab, click Create. The Create Stop File window opens.

Select one or multiple practices to create stop files.

  • Click Select All to select all practices.
  • Click Select Note to deselect all practices.
  • To select more than one practice, select a practice and hold the CTRL key down while selecting additional practices.

If you only have access to one practice, the practice is selected by default and this step is skipped.

3After you are finished making your selections, click OK.

Wait a few moments for the pre-collections process to complete. When the process has completed, the table is refreshed with new stop files. If a pre-collections stop file is not created, one of the following messages appear: 

  •  No service fees have changed significantly since last pre-collection file.
  •  No service fees quality for pre-collection based on current thresholds. 

If a service fee line item is selected for cancellation, the blue highlighting on the SVCFE line item in Active AR is removed.

The stop file is created and automatically transmitted to pre-collections, typically within two hours.

4Export the file to your hard drive for viewing purposes only.
