Claim holds can be added for a specified number of days from the date of service to a practice, practice/payer, or practice/plan.

From the Claim Holds page, click Create. The Claim Hold window opens.

Open the Practice drop down list and select the practice to associate with the claim hold.

Practice is a required field. Claim holds must have a designated practice.

3(Optional) Open the Facility drop down list and select the facility to associate with the claim hold.
4(Optional) Open the Provider drop down list and select the provider to associate with the claim hold.
5(Optional) Open the Payer drop down list and select the payer to associate with the claim hold.

At minimum, all claim holds must be set up against a practice. Optionally, a claim hold can be set up with a practice/payer combination.

(Optional) Open the Plan drop down list and select the plan to associate with the claim hold. 

Optionally, a claim hold can be set up with a practice/plan combination. The Plan drop down options are determined based on the payer selected in the previous step. In order to select a plan, a payer must first be selected.
7Enter the Number of Days.
The Number of Days determines the number of days primary claims will be held, as it relates to the date of service. The hold is automatically lifted at the end of the last day. The maximum number of days that a claim can be held is 99.

Click Save to save your information and close the Claim Hold window. The claim hold populates the Claim Holds table.

Click Save & Add Next to save the claim hold and open a new Claim Hold window.

Click Cancel to close the window and not save.
