There following scenarios (documented below) are used for reversing payments:

  • Reverse the entire payment amount
  • Transfer the payment distribution to Suspense
  • Transfer the payment distribution to On-Account

Step-By-Step Guide

Reverse the Entire Amount

Complete this task to reverse a guarantor (GPYMT) or insurance (IPYMT) recorded on a SVCFE activity code on a guarantor account. For the SVCFE activity code, you can reverse a GPYMT or IPYMT. For the ONACCT activity code, you can reverse a GPYMT.

From the Act: [ID] > Active AR tab of the guarantor account, select the payment (GPYMT or IPYMT) to reverse.


Use the Filter by DOS option to filter the service fee line items by date of service. You can either type the date in the space provided or use the Calendar Control tool by clicking the arrow and selecting the date on the calendar that appears. To include all service fee lines items, clear the date from the Filter by DOS field.

Click Reverse. The Reverse Payment window opens.


3Select the Reverse this entire payment distribution option in the Payment Reversal Type section.
4Enter or select the date to use as the account date for this transaction in the Accounting Date field.


If your practice is configured for accounting dates, the Accounting Date option is required.


5(Optional) Enter additional information (reason) for the reversal in the Description field.
6Click OK. The sub-entry RVPAY activity code with the offsetting entry to the GPYMT or IPYMT is recorded in the SVCFE block.


Transfer the Payment Distribution to Suspense

Complete this task to transfer funds of a guarantor (GPYMT) or insurance (IPYMT) payment to Suspense.

From the Act: [ID] > Active AR tab of the guarantor account, select the payment (GPYMT or IPYMT) to reverse.

Click Reverse. The Reverse Payment window opens.


3Select the Transfer this payment distribution to the Suspense Account option in the Payment Reversal Type section.
4Enter the amount of the payment to reverse in the Amount to reverse field.
5For an insurance payment, enter an amount equal to or less than the total contractual write-off amount in the Contractual writeoff amount to reverse field.


This field will not allow the entry of more than this amount.


6Enter or select the date to use as the account date for this transaction in the Accounting Date field.


If your practice is configured for accounting dates, the Accounting Date option is required.


7(Optional) Enter additional information (reason) for the reversal in the Description field.
8Click OK. The sub-entry RVSUS activity code with the offsetting entry to the GPYMT or IPYMT is recorded in the SVCFE block on the Active AR tab and as either the GSUSP activity code on the Suspense page.


Transfer the Payment Distribution to On-Account

Complete this task to reverse a guarantor (GPYMT) payment recorded on the ONACCT activity code of a guarantor account.

8Click OK. The sub-entry RVACC activity code with the offsetting entry to the GPYMT is recorded in the ONACCT activity code.
