Overview

There are various keyboard functions that can be used to navigate in Connect Back Office. The keyboard functions include shortcut keys, function keys, keyboard keys, and arrow keys.

Some keyboard functions perform the same action. For example, to open a selection list, you can use the shortcut keys [Alt]+[↓] or the function key [F4]. Each method is defined in the following sections on this page:

  • Shortcut Keys
  • Function Keys
  • Arrow Keys

There are additional keyboard shortcuts available on different pages within the Connect applications which are only applicable to those specific pages. Those shortcuts are defined with that page's field definitions.

The shortcuts defined in this Shortcut Keys topic are generic and available on multiple pages and tabs across the application. They are not specific to any particular page or tab.

Shortcut Keys

Shortcut keys are a combination of keystrokes used to perform a particular action. Shortcut keys are assigned to menu commands and command buttons as a means of navigating to these functions using the keyboard instead of the mouse.

The designated shortcut key is identified as an underlined letter in the name of the menu command or command button. Use the designated letter with the [Alt] key to perform a function. For example:

  • Shortcut key for File menu is F, so press [Alt] and then [F]
  • Shortcut keys for New Person are N and R, which implies pressing [Alt] and [F], then [N], and then [R]

For quicker data entry, using shortcut keys is the preferred method.

The following commands are common elements or activities found on most pages:
