Use this task to relate an anesthesia code to a CPT code not normally associated with anesthesia. One or more CPT codes can be mapped to one or more ASA codes with this activity. As codes are mapped, they become available in Back Office. When a mapped code is used during charge entry, the associated ASA code is listed with the CPT code so that anesthesia specifics can be entered on the case.

From the Code Mappings page, open the Code Year drop down list and select the relevant year in which the procedure codes were released by the AMA.

For example, if mapping current year codes, select the current year from the Year drop down list.

In the CPT Codes section, select one or more CPT codes that you want to map to one or more ASA codes.

To select more than one CPT code, select the first item and then press and hold down the [Ctrl] key.

3In the ASA Codes section, select one or more ASA codes to map to one or more CPT codes.

To select more than one ASA code, select the first item and then press and hold down the [Ctrl] key.

4Click Create. Individual entries of the mapped codes are listed in the mapped codes listings.

By default, only the user-defined mapped codes are shown in the Mapped Codes listings. To see system-defined mapped codes, mark the Show System Code Mappings checkbox.

Repeat the steps above to add additional code mappings.


6Click Close and close the page.
